A Murrays optician has relayed the importance of eye health to a group of nursery children.
Hafiza Hakim, Manager and Dispensing Optician for Murrays Opticians in Manchester, visited Tudor House Day Nursery on Shear Brow in Blackburn.
Pupils have been educated on how to care for their eyes and received a free eye examination from Hafiza, who has been in the industry since she qualified from university in 2004.
They also tried on a wide range of designer frames and took home a special goody bag which included a certificate of ‘Two Clever Eyes.’
Hafiza said: “Working in an opticians means we have a responsibility to spread the message of the importance of the health of our eyes and having regular tests.
“Eyes are at their most vulnerable when they are younger, so it’s never too early to have these conversations.
“All of the children in the nursery were fully engaged and it’s fantastic to see such young people interested in the messages I’m trying to put out.”
Janice Thompson, Nursery Manager at Tudor House, said: “The children were enthused by the visit of Hafiza and she was all they talked about when she left.
“The topic of eye health is not something that regularly gets taught in nurseries, so for young people of this age to learn from such an experienced professional is an invaluable help to us.
“If it means more of our children have healthier eyes then her visit has been more than worth her visit.”
